Brand Champion of the Day- Jennifer Mich, VP Membership, American Marketing Association- Colorado
Last night I attended a networking event for prospective members of the Colorado Chapter of the American Marketing Association. The evening started with a traditional cocktail reception, followed by an overview of the benefits of joining the organization. During the presentation section of the event, Vice President for Membership, Jennifer Mich outlined the why one should join Colorado AMA. Jennifer did a great job of describing the essence of the organization and the rational reasons to believe in the organization.
Brand development is still a relatively new endeavor for many nonprofit organizations, so it was great to see the innovative approach Jennifer took last night to describe her association. An event like this is a great opportunity to recruit and retain brand champions, and for everyone to hear the brand message at the same time. The promotional materials that were sent out in advance of the meeting, followed by the content for the presentation last night were all in alignment.
For her efforts, Jennifer Mich is the Brand Champion of the Day.

Thanks Rex! I am thrilled to be the Brand Champion of the Day! I appreciate everything you've done to help Colorado AMA develop a brand positioning platform that really describes who we are, what we offer, and what makes us unique. I developed my materials for the event by organizing the benefits of Colorado AMA membership into lists that corresponded to the reasons to believe in the organization. Rather than trying to tell the audience everything about the organization, I reviewed old collateral materials and only used items from them that specifically related to our reasons to believe. For example, one of our reasons to believe is Progressive Thinking. An example of this is the topics covered in AMA webcasts. Recent topics include Focus Your Marketing Spend in an Economic Downturn and Brand Building in a Digital Age. When people learn about these webcasts, they can see that AMA indeed delivers Progressive Thinking. I look forward to using this method to revise the rest of our marketing materials so that we convey a consistent message about Colorado AMA.

The event was fun and really informative! I really like the messages that CoAMA is sharing - "progressive" - "collaborative" - "compelling content" - and "comprehensive resources." You can't accomplish greatness without having a roadmap and a guiding light - our brand!
