This past weekend the National Football League demonstrated its support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure by sporting the color pink. By so doing the NFL enhanced its brand. Last year I blasted the league because unlike their counterparts in the other USA sport leagues there was no sign of support. For the past several years the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball players used pink sticks and bats for example.
While a few NFL players were too wimpy to appear in pink, by far the majority of players last week indicated that they were man enough to do so. It was great to see players wearing pink cleats, wrist bands, gloves, hats, towels and other equipment. I wish there would have been 100% support, but I guess some players do not understand the importance of supporting a cure for breast cancer. And they don't realize that by not doing so, they just diluted their personal brand, and maybe their team too.
Unlike last year, this year the National Football League enhanced their brand by championing the Susan G. Komen brand. How are you supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure brand?
