I assume that many of you will be watching the Academy Awards tomorrow night to see who captures the 2011 Oscars. During breaks you will probably be changing stations or getting up to grab a bite to eat. Some of you will be sitting through television ads including those from J.C. Penny.
During Oscar night when celebrities are walking the red carpet in formal wear and others are doing the same at special Oscar parties. Casual wear brand, J. C. Penny will officially be launching its new identity. I refuse to say they are rebranding, since they are not changing their name. However, they are going lower case, boasting a new logo and tagline.
The new tagline is We Make It Affordable, You Make It Yours. Ok, I guess. What I would like to hear is what was the process for coming to the decision of the tagline and logo, and what is their organization's brand platform. Of course J. C. Penny, I mean jcpenny, needs to bring their brand into the 21st century in order to garner new brand champions. I am not sure launching during Oscar night accomplishes that.
